Okay, I couldn’t get the silly linkedIn thing to work, so I’m really glad you have a blog! I can post here and maybe you will get back to me. I replied to someone in some way, goodness only knows how it will all work out, but I saved it and here it is (but I have to warn you, I cut it slightly to protect the innocent - since this is out in the public for everyone to read):
Brad!
Oh my gosh, I’ve wondered what happened to you! Last I heard you were in Tennessee with Joy…. But, I always knew you wanted to be out on the mission field and pronto at that so I’ve been wondering if you were in Borneo or Ajerbyzan. However you spell those two countries…..
I’m teaching in a school in North East, Maryland. Let me tell you something I have learned, a sleeping student who wants to sleep is better than an awake student who doesn’t want to be there. The new guy got pulled aside for that in his first week (the second or third day of school). Real nice, intro, huh? I was the one yelled at for tea - let me say, my tongue got the better of me that day and I have had a good long lesson in praying for my enemies and asking God to bless those who make my life very hard.
I’m still single and waiting on God for a change to that. My dad thinks I’m never going to get married and he’s offered to give me the money he would put toward my marriage to a down-payment on a house. Yikes! That’s what you get when you walk by faith for six years and don’t go on a date because no one is good enough. I’ve become very picky….
I just got back in touch with Stephanie (Arnold) Taylor. She and Scott are pregnant and living in CA as they both study at UC Santa Barbara, I think. Ph.D’s for the both of them; in case you didn’t know.
That’s it for me. I left MA and teaching for a while and did some crazy stuff on what I call “my wandering year”. God has been faithful and amazing and He continues to blow me away in His love and rejoicing in me. I may have a prophetic gifting…. It’s becoming stronger and it’s weird. All I want is more time with him and since I’m single and there are no demands on me in other areas that a lot of people have, I’m able to give him crazy amounts of time. When I think about where I could be if God hadn’t pulled me out - yikes. So, I’m living the adventure that I’m in - I guess that’s all we can do and trust that God can redeem anything - even the mistakes and make them into something truly beautiful.
Okay enough rhapsodizing. It is great to hear from you. I hope that you are Joy are blissfully happy in the Lord and doing just what you are supposed to be doing. I love how His grace is there, making things that should be really hard easy because he’s the One that flows it down on us.
Ugh. I need to stop! Can you tell I’m working on a new writing project? It links God into nature and the everyday. Bah! I think I’m even driving myself nuts. I’ll go but know that I’m delighted you wrote.
Love to you both,
Beam
p.s. do you have Amy and Erik’s address, phone # or any contact info for them? I now live about an hour and half out of DC and would love to get a hold of them….
