Joy and I watched the Gilmore Girls season finale tonight, and all I can say is what?!? I have no idea what in the world is going on with this show. I mean, let’s leave aside the question of why television shows always have characters jumping into bed with other people at the drop of a hat and just talk about the reality of the last scene. Lorelai going to Chris and sleeping with him just so does not fit who those two characters are. Chris would never do that because:
1) He knows it would mess up his relationship with Rory. After finally working things out, there’s no way he would risk that.
2) He seems like a classier guy than that. To sleep with someone who is engaged when she’s clearly upset and emotional? That doesn’t sound like him.
3) Because he’s not insane. The whole thing is completely insane.
I don’t know if this is Amy Sherman-Palladino’s way to sticking it to the WB since they did not renew her contract, or if she has simply gone mad. Either way, the new writers taking over have a lot of work to do to get this train back on the tracks
It was a stinky season finale! Well, just a stinky last few minutes. I think that the Palladino’s just wanted to cause a stink and see how the WB/CW network (merger WB-UPN) and poor Dave Rosenthal will worm out of it. I guess that we will have to wait until next season to see how everyone digs out of this finale, well the last few minutes of the finale anyway. Good Luck to Dave and here is hoping that he will write a GREAT last season for Gilmore Girls!
