How long, oh Lord, before you let me die?

Lockdown

Filed under: Family — Brad @ 9:25 pm

After installing baby gates last weekend, today my dad helped me install locks on some of the cabinets in our kitchen. Charis just started figuring out how to pull open drawers, and she’s definitely drawn to the silver drawer pulls and cabinet handles that we have in the kitchen, so the time had come. The locks create a little bit of a hassle for Joy and I, but the added peace of mind is nice.

I ended up choosing some cool magnetic locks. You mount them inside the cabinet and they are completely invisible with the doors closed. There is a small magnetic “key” that you just hold over the door at the spot where the lock is mounted behind the door and, voila, the door is unlocked. I think they are pretty nifty.

  1. Brad- After a few weeks with the locks you won’t think twice about them. It will become second nature to lock and unlock everything. Same goes with the baby gates. The joys of the mobile child!

  3. Oh my I am having a HARD time with the child proofing! It is quite the hassle to keep everything locked and then unlock when you need something or want to pass. This could drive me crazy. I am really hoping that Christy is right and that I will get use to it. For now it makes me want to find an open field to run in with no gates so that I can just feel free. I also want to open and close a lot of cabinets and drawers without locks. If you see a crazy woman at a store opening and closing drawers and cabinets on display furniture just know that it is a poor mother who has been locked out of her own cabinets and drawers at home! :)
